Experience and Qualifications:

  • Senior-level leadership experience, earned in an international independent school environment, or a variety of complex educational contexts.

  • The ability to identify trends and anticipate developments in our rapidly changing education environment; this will include experience with integrating new educational technologies in the classroom.

  • Experience preparing and delivering instructional feedback to teachers, particularly as it relates to curriculum design and lesson plans, but also in the context of evaluations, coaching, and mentoring.
  • A deep understanding and appreciation of the importance of community and diversity, and a commitment to respecting and embracing the philosophy and values of the Campus des Nations and Ecolint.

Credentials:

  • A strong academic background, and a track record of success in academic administration at the secondary level.
  • Experience with, or an aptitude for, working collaboratively and constructively with faculty/staff/unions.
  • An understanding of the International Baccalaureate would be an asset.
  • The principal will speak both English and/or French with a minimum of B2 level in the other language.

Appointment of Secondary School Principal Nations campus - Geneva

Seeks for September 2024

Founded in 1924, the Foundation of the International School of Geneva, commonly known as Ecolint educates 4500 students aged from 3-18 representing over 130 nationalities. Each of our seven schools is dedicated to the development of seven life-worthy, future-ready global competencies: we develop lifelong learning, self-agency, and the ability to interact with the world, with others, and with resources to develop transdisciplinary, multiliterate thinking. Opened in 2005, Campus des Nations is the newest of Ecolints three campuses and educates more than 1,113 students, ages 3 to 18, from over 100 nations. The Campus is comprised of two schools (Secondary and Primary) and is located in the heart of Genevas international quarter. Campus des Nations is proud to be an IB World School and the only campus that offers all four IB programs in a wholly integrated educational experience.

To complete our team, we are looking for a: Secondary School Principal

Reporting to the Director General, the Secondary School Principal has overall responsibility and accountability for the academic and administrative leadership of the Nations Secondary School.

In addition, the Principal is a key member of the senior leadership team that provides strategic direction to the International School of Geneva as a whole.

With 679 students from Years 7 to 13, the Secondary School is large and complex and requires a leader who is both a strong and experienced people manager and an outstanding collaborator and communicator.

The new Secondary School Principal will be an experienced educational leader with strong management and administrative skills, ideally earned in a variety of educational contexts. The ideal candidates will bring a global perspective to their thinking and approach, a vision for education and where it is going, a deep and natural connection to students, and the ability to inspire a community in pursuit of common goals.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership/management:

  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Administrative Team of Ecolint, to ensure that all three campuses are providing an outstanding education to their students and that the overall goals and strategies of the School as a whole are being pursued.
  • Have overall accountability and responsibility for all aspects of the Campus des Nations Secondary School.
  • Provide direction, motivation, and inspiration to secondary school faculty, staff, and students.
  • Seek new approaches to innovative learning and program delivery, based on educational research and best practice.
  • In collaboration with the Primary Principals, set and implement strategic priorities for teaching and learning across the campus.
  • Work constructively with the Faculty Association and the unions to ensure productive, positive partnerships and open and collegial relationships.
  • Liaise with parents, students, teachers, and other members of the internal and external Campus des Nations community, acting as an extension of the Secondary School.

Academic:

  • Remain current with the International Baccalaureate expectations and curriculum, ensuring compliance with practices and policies while, at the same time, thinking broadly and creatively about innovation in pedagogy and new approaches to learning.
  • Work collaboratively in identifying and integrating technology tools that transform learning in the classroom.
  • In collaboration with the Primary Principal, work to ensure a seamless transition for students as they journey through their time at Campus des Nations.
  • Work in partnership with pastoral care and the learning support team to ensure appropriate provision for students with identified learning needs.
  • Oversee the development of innovative programs that provide students with authentic and transformational learning opportunities.
  • Ensure continuous professional growth of faculty to support program excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Conduct faculty evaluations, oversee faculty induction orientation programs, and take an active role in the mentoring of new teachers and department heads.
  • Lead, coach, and support teachers in curriculum design and development, and ensure consistency in instructional and assessment practices.

Students:

  • Take an active interest in the lives of the students at Campus des Nations, providing advice, counsel, wisdom, and support as they journey through the Secondary School.
  • Seek out and support students involvement in the leadership and governance of the Secondary School.
